Canuck Animal Names - Who Are They??

There are still more Canuck animal names left to be revealed.  Today I'm going to reveal Ryan Kesler's animal name.  Its quite fitting actually.  Kevin Bieksa spilled the beans on this one as well during an interview closer to the start of the season.

Next up:

Ryan Kesler = Bull

The picture above was taken after "Kes" had been struck in the face with the puck.  The blow ripped a hole in his lower jaw and he lost a tooth.  He had it stitched back up and found his way back to the bench right after.

The traits of a Bull can be found in astrology...usually associated to the Tarus and are as follows:

"The characteristics are solidity, practicality, extreme determination and strength of will - no one will ever drive them, but they will willingly and loyally follow a leader they trust."

This is Ryan Kesler in a nutshell.  Determined, stubborn Ryan Kesler is also known as "Keslord" after the 2011 playoff series against the Nashville Predators.

You don't want to mess with a Bull and anyone who messes with Kesler on the ice is just as stupid.  He's not known as "Keslord" for nothing.

Canuck Animal Names - Who Are They??

Another Canuck animal name that was revealed earlier this year was that of Keith Ballard.  At an open practice held at Rogers Arena on October 8, 2011, Kevin Bieksa lets the cat out of the bag.  During the last part of the practice Bieksa shouts out "Go Wolf!" as Ballard picks up speed on the shootout.  Thus revealing Ballard's animal nickname.  Wolf.  He also mentions Wolf several times in his tweets.

Keith Ballard = Wolf

Canuck Animal Names - Who Are They??

So, since the last Canuck identity was revealed, a lot has happened.  One of our Canuck animals got traded  to Buffalo and he's in town to face his former team tomorrow night.  Our next identity is the COHO.

Cody Hodgson = COHO

The name COHO was obviously taken from his own name.  The first two letters of his first and last name.  But I'm still gonna put up a video on COHO cause I just really liked the video.  Its cute.  Make whatever comparisons you want from it.

Your fourth Canuck Animal Name belongs to Sami Salo. The owl has great eyesight, sense of hearing and is a fearful opponent.  The damage is usually done before its prey even knows what hit them.  Just like how stealthy he is shooting his crazy blast of a slap shot from the blue line. The opponent never sees it coming. The owl can also take down prey 3 times larger than him.  Just like Salo.

Here is the next Canuck Animal Identity.

Alex Edler = Eagle

Alex Edler is the Eagle.  His twitter handle is also _Eagle23. Although he doesn't seem to use his twitter at all. Wonder why the name Eagle???  He's a defenceman.  His job is to protect his territory at whatever costs.  He's big and he's mean.  You don't want to mess with him.  He's also got a great shot from the point.  Watch this video to see the comparisons. Canuck Animal Names - Who Are They??

Back in October when the Canucks were starting their pre-season, they would get together for lunches and such and use them as bonding sessions.  Out of these bonding sessions came a consensus that they would all have code names.  These code names would all be animal names that would relate to their personality.  These names were given out by the "tribal council".  And who sits on this council? None other that the witty Kevin Bieksa, Dan Hamhuis and Keith Ballard.  Through Kevin Bieksa's tweets and radio interviews we've gotten him to reveal some of them.  I will be revealing some of the names that I know of so far in random posts so keep an eye out for them.  Today I will reveal the first name that Bieksa revealed to us on a Team 1040 interview with Scotty Rintoul. 

Jannik Hansen = Honey Badger

Why the Honey Badger, you ask?  Well, watch this and you'll find out why this names suits him to a "T".

Yes, don't let the name fool you, the Honey Badger is nothing close to being a sweet animal.  He's pretty bad ass.  I wouldn't want to mess with either of them.  Would you??
